After nearly 20 years in medical practice and building a health care provider organization, Keith Richman took his medical and business background to the public policy arena. While in the State Assembly, Dr. Richman championed a number of important public policy reforms in the areas of healthcare, fiscal issues including pensions and retiree health costs, worker's compensation, energy, infrastructure investment, and many others. With his colleague Assemblyman Joe Canciamilla, Dr. Richman formed and led the legislative bipartisan group which worked across the aisle to address many of California's important public policy issues.
Dr. Richman, a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar, obtained his pre-med instruction at the University of California at Davis, before earning his Medical Doctor and Master in Public Health degrees at UCLA. A pioneer in the field of health care management, Dr. Richman currently serves as an executive and director of Lakeside HealthCare, Inc., a physician-directed organization that serves 250,000 patients and employs approximately 600 people. Dr. Richman has returned to UCLA as a Distinguished Fellow in the School of Public Affairs and he has established the California Foundation for Fiscal Responsibility to continue to address the pressing public policy issue of escalating public employee retiree costs.
