I got the strangest phone call this morning…
…someone claiming to be the national debt called me …it was the weirdest thing.
I said hello? and it said money never sleeps pal…so I said who is this? it said this is the national debt, I said the national who? it said the national debt you dope! I said dope? excuse me…why are you calling me?
It said, I’m calling everyone…I said why? It said because I’m hungry…I said what are you talking about? It said yeah, everyone needs to eat, especially someone who weighs over $11 trillion pounds dollars, except that my food comes to me in the form of interest…
ah…
so I said you want more interest? It said exactly…I want more interest…
And so what am I supposed to do about that? It said support politicians who want to tax, spend and borrow …because that is how I will eat more and how I will grow bigger, stronger and more powerful…
So I said no way will I support politicians like those you’ve described, besides, I need my money too… and my kids need my money…my local government needs my money…my local grocery store wants more of my money, my wife wants all of my money…everyone wants more of my hard earned money…
and so I hung up… and unplugged my phone.
I want to ask you a few questions and I want you to give me the answer in your best outside voice. Ok?
Here we go:
· are you under taxed? or overtaxed?
· is government too small? or too big?
· does our government spend too little? or too much?
· does our government borrow too little? or too much?
· is our national deficit debt too small? or too big?
· is the interest on our national debt growing too slow? or too fast?
And how fast do you think it’s growing?
Well, let us count the ways… consider this:
Clocking in at $6 million dollars a minute, in the next five minutes American taxpayers will add over $30 million to our national debt. That is enough money to balance the budget in santa barbara county ($16million) and in the city of santa barbara ($9million) with several million left over for a rainy day…
In fact, to really put this into perspective, between the time this rally began and the time it ends, the dollars we will add to our national debt, in terms of the interest owed ($750 million) would be enough to:
· widen the 101 from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara ($425million),
· build a north county jail, fully staff it and operate it for 10 years ($160million),
· eliminate the $16 million deficit at the county and the $9 million deficit at the city and still have enough left over to hire:
· 100 more police officers,
· 100 more firefighters,
· 100 more teachers…and pay them each $100,000 per year, for the next 5 years ($150 million), and STILL have enough left over to give everyone here, assuming there are approximately 1500 people here, $10,000 each…
Folks…there is something very wrong with this…this is not the way it should be.
This is our time taxpayers, it’s time to say NO to higher taxes, runaway government spending, dictated and controlled out of Washington DC, and its more than about time to start cutting taxes while controlling government spending so we can balance our federal, state and local budgets and reduce taxes even more, so that we empower families as opposed to government bureaucracies…
