The Senate Democrats
realignment plan is off-target.
The state can raise revenues, generate
jobs and growth by eliminating bureaucracy and unnecessary programs —
not increasing taxes or shifting the unfunded burden to the counties.
What’s needed is the ELIMINATION of unfunded mandates, consolidation
or elimination of state departments and agencies along with reducing
the large number of legislative committees, subcommittees and select
committees.
The legislature also
continues to turn a blind eye to eliminating top heavy management and
reforming our antiquated civil service rules. The smoke and mirrors
that future federal health reform savings will be used to fund state
programs the counties will be responsible for, is another fantasy.
Once again the Democrats have failed to recognize that the while the
wheel is spinning, the hamster is DEAD.
